The work Kyagurilo Gorillas Maturation Wall 1998–2019 / 2021is an 80-part collage of photographs. At my request, the primatologist Martha Robbins photographed her work wall at her research station in the mountains of Uganda, which has been evolving over the course of twenty years.Transferred into the exhibition space, different representations of image realities become visible. On the one hand, there is the researcher’s gaze in the form of portraits of her subjects of study, the mountain gorillas. On the other hand, there is the researcher’s photogrammetric gaze, through which she records the wall in a tactile manner, capturing the movement ofher own looking. By chance, she also photographs herself in a mirror. In the act of collaging the images onto the wall, a third manifestation emerges: a re-presentation of the researcher’s wall within the exhibition space.
